Team STEAM’s main yearly challenge is FIRST^® Robotics Competition, available for all high schoolers.

FIRST^® Robotics aims to combine the excitement of sports with the rigor of science and technology, providing students with a challenging yet fun task.

Teams of students are challenged to raise funds, design a team “brand,” hone teamwork skills, and build and program industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game against like-minded competitors. It’s as close to real-world engineering as a student can get. Playing on a field the size of a basketball court, teams manipulate game pieces in a challenge that changes yearly. With a limited time-frame, students learn all sorts of helpful skills including teamwork, leadership, and time-management, as well as the technical skills vital to the operation of a robot.
